Examples of Obama 'ignoring' the Constitution
This afternoon I received a nasty email from a family member responding to my 1934 Cartoon that I posted. It went on to talk about how Bush trashed the Constitution and how it disrespected the institutions of higher learning that are Harvard and Columbia. I responded that it was a joke, pointed out the hypocrisy of Obama where he talks about how terrible torture is and then condones heinous crimes against unborn babies in the form of late term abortion and partial birth abortion.
I started to get into the Constitutional thing (and why is it that people have only one defense for Obama - he's not Bush - come on liberals, get a new line this one is getting old). No one can actually give an example of a 'good' thing that Obama has done, but they go on about how terrible Bush was. In any event, I decided to put together a list of the ways in which our current President has trashed the Constitution in less than 100 days in office. Well, I guess we're a few days over 100 days (is it 2012 yet?)... but you get the idea.
1. Appointing Hillary Clinton to Secretary of State: Seems that the Constitution states "No Senator or Representative shall, during the time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil office under the authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the emoluments whereof shall have been increased during such time: and no person holding any office under the United States, shall be a member of either House during his continuance in office." Hillary was a sitting Senator at the time the pay for the Secretary of State was raised - a no-no according to the Constitution.
2. Obama's Administration quietly expands defense of Bush's wiretapping: Apparently Obama is not against ALL of Bush's policies as outlined here in his support of wiretapping.
3. Obama federal pay hike for 150 school districts around the country: Only... he can't. Its in violation of the 10th Amendment - The irrefutable fact is, Obama’s education plan requires the misappropriation of federal revenue for a function not authorized by our federal Constitution!
4. Obama views the Constitution as 'living' - not what our forefathers had intended: ""[W]e need somebody who's got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it's like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what it's like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that's the criteria by which I'm going to be selecting my judges." Do we? Or do we have to view it by the laws and freedoms and guidelines it sets forth?
